Aulonocara Masoni is a member of the Stuartgranti family of Aulonocara species. This is a beautiful looking peacock. Males get an overall metallic royal blue color with an impressive white or ice blue edging to the dorsal fin as well as nice orange ventral fins. They also have darker vertical stripes on their sides.
Like all peacock cichlids, the masoni is an insectivore, feeding on insect larvae and small crustaceans found in the sand in the wild. In the aquarium, they will readily adapt to and accept almost any food, but will need some animal protein in their diet. Spirulina and Chlorella based foods with occasional frozen/live foods will keep their blue color looking its best.
